Next morning I was up at 7 preparing the
open fire and was I cold. After a warm chocolate milk and an egg and cheese jaffle
cooked by Paul, the sun began to touch the peaks of the mountain. Were
were literally in the clouds. and the temperature soon rose to 6 degrees. Whooo
hooo. No showers here just a drop toilet……. Hmmm he told me it would be a Big 4 park with a spa…...
After packing the tents were on the road again
at 10 am, travelling through spectactular scenery that seemed to change every 5
minutes. What a day…
Driving from 1600 metres down to 500metres, backup to 1200 metres was amazing. I saw reds, green, yellow, orange blues, and almost every other colour and sculpture scenery. Only to turn the next corner and be blown away by the greenest of farm lands, with scary drops beside the car of 200 metres plus. Being scared of heights i hugged the left of the road for the fear of death and drove at 40kmph
Sooon that changed to a small section of tropical forest, and then desolate forests with thousands if not millions of trees that have no leaves….. All breathtaking.

The drive from Licola to Jamieson is a must do for anyone in a Four wheel drive.
At 4pm we arrived at Grannys Flat, a picturesque camp site more populated than the
last. There would be about ten families camping beside a beautiful flowing shallow river where visitors attempt trout fishing with no luck.. Our site is on the
river, adjoining a steep vertical garden about 100 metres high on the bank directly opposite us…….
After we setup up it was time to have a
bath in the river. Very cold but refreshing as there are no showers on our
travels.
Another fire, and a bottle of wine as the full moon rose as we settled into the evening. At 930, after such a big day were retired to our tents and im writing my blog. Tommorrow will be yet another day of adventure.

We live in an amazing country. Just don’t forget to go and find it.
Im only on day 10 and it feels like ages.
One only has to get off the central arterial highways that adjoin the cities and
drive on the tourist routes to find many sites and adventures.
Stay tuned.
