300414 - Port Arthur to Coles Bay

Today a drive down south west to Port Arthur to see the penal settlement. The grounds were wonderful as was the architecture. Unfortunately the larger prison was going under restoration so not accessible.

The community has many building from the Church where the stone was mainly cut by the child convicts, houses made in the late 1840s for the Reverend, Medical officers, and people of authority. First building I looked into in was the second prison. This one is for the prisoners that didn't conform in main facility.

I then drove to the Cape Raol walk but decided to turn back after entering bush unto my shoulders. The walk was 5 hours but i was just trying to do 1km to see if I could see coast.

Next on to Tasmans Arch and Devils Kitchen
