130414 what hosts at Talbingo

James the owner of Talbingo Park where we have been staying offered to show us one of the many huts hidden in a part of the Kosiosko national park and there after the waterfall located close to then

The day started with our three 4WD vehicles travelling together.
Ian in his, (i have christened Nelly), Im in mine, (Tommy Touareg) and James in his pathfinder with his two sons, Josh and Daniel. Sorry James i didn't name  yours.

First seeing the snowy river hydro we then made our way for what became some serious 4WDing..

Luckily James had a chainsaw for the large tree that had fallen so we could inch our way past it.
Next was the many water holes to drive through followed by yet more fallen trees.

The last tree was so big we decided we couldn't pass through so locked the cars and walked 500 mtres to the old hut.

Upon return we each did a 6 point turn to swing the vehicles back in the direction we had came and made our way back the track.

Approaching the waterhole that was deep was a worry but we made it through albeit, i was somewhat worried i was going to drown my car. No way out other than to push through.

All vehicles made it through the adventure.

Hot dogs at the end of the journey. Well deserved.

Next was on to the waterfalls, where James took us on a human adventure, unlike what we had done with the cars previously. This time we walked not only down to the first water fall, but what seemed another 500 metres in height down over 30 mins through landslides and some pretty hairy tracks.

That said it was all worth it. Not sure Ian agreed with the lower walk due but he made it through fine.

The trip was reward with mini hotdogs cooked by me for the adults and kids from the back of my car as the day was celebrated as a success.

Next we said farewell to our friends, ( thanks to James, Di, and boys) who looked after us well in the last two days.   Any time you want a nice holiday destination consider...www.

Ian and I then proceeded with the scenic drive to Khancoban, both off road along the power line trail and then back towards Tumbarumba and down the scenic drive.  Its these drives that make you realise  we just all need to get out of the cities and drive off our highways.

My shot of the day

Nice new wig for Ian
