120414 - Kosciuszko National Park .

This morning Ian awoke to 10 kangaroos outside around the front garden enjoying some sunshine.
Ian wheres the photo??

We headed off to the Lobs Hole Ravine Road do play off road in our 4WDs.
Rough dirt roads,

Unfortunately after driving for an hour and a bit,  the creek in the middle needed to be crossed. After much consternation, Ian evaluating and me stripping to my undies to check the conditions, it was decided by both of us that the risk in driving through the fast moving waters was too great.

We turned around and returned from where we came.

You don't want to see this one large

After returning the way we can in we went off to Yarrangobilly  caves for a tour.  The paid tour took us through Jersey cave which was spectacular, albeit after you tackled far too many steep wet stairs. If your going there serious consider a night at the guest house at the same location.  If its as nice on the inside as out definitely a treat.

Unfortunately we left our shorts behind so we couldn't enjoy the thermal pool at the same location.

Back for a early night at Talbingo and get the dry tent away safely from the yard where its been drying.

110414 - Time to see where Jay comes from.. Tumut toTumbarumba

Leaving Wee Jasper, a place you should visit with a  4WD.. or alternatively go in good weather and enjoy the dirt road experience,  we made our way to Tumut then off to Tumbarumba.  Cant describe in words the beautiful country we passed.

On the way we also had the amazing experience of stopping off at Batlow.  If that rings a bell its where many of our apples come from.

Autumn in Batlow is beautiful with many trees changing their colours.

Next to Tumbaruba where Jay spent his younger years. ( or as Jay called it Tumba bloody rumba ).
This small country town was much nicer than I had pictured from his recollection but then again somehow Jay never appreciated places that were less than a million people.
Large B double semi trailers roar around the region indicating a large logging industry.
I got to do the drive by of his family home ( or maybe the more modern home that stands there now ) and that of his grandparents that he loved so dearly.

Next off to the Kosiosko National park via Mt Selwyn as it continues to rain.

A quick stop off at Australias highest town for some petrol at 1446 metres then off again.

Arriving at Three Mile Dam campsite we planned to stay at, a guy kindly walked up to our cars prior to us setting up for the night advising that 150 kids were about to arrive and hoped that wouldn't disturb us.

We decided to move on, to give them the space they needed, and drover further in the rain to our next destination. As the next campsite at Denison didn't have a loo, Ian decided we should move further on.

To both of our satisfaction, we then found a nice apartment on the water in a caravan park for a couple of nights until the rain goes away.

Wish the rain would stop

100414 - Rain Rain and more Rain.

So after a night of rain we awoke in our tents and then set off for a drive to Yass.  Ian needed a memory card for his phone.  First a drive around the farms was spectacular.  This place is SO green and when you get off the major highways you see amazing scenery.   Who cares about the rain.

We had Lunch in Yass and then back to our wet camp ground. The campground has a beautiful creek running through it surrounded by greenery, cows, sheep and not many people....Noice.

Dinner under the rainy clouds and an early night.

090414 - Trip 2 - Sydney to Tasmania starts today. and we found "Wee Jasper"

Today,  my brother Ian who arrived from the Gold Coast on Monday,  and I left to travel the first leg of my Journey to Tassie. We will be going to the Mt Kosciuszko National park for a bit of 4wd adventure.

After driving at Lake George then getting a little lost diverting around Canberra city we finally got closer to our destination. Heading for Brindabella, we got to a beautiful creek,  and then couldn't find any destination to stay.

Supposed to camping at Flea Creek but couldn't find any turnoff. Maybe an omen.

Heading on we found "Wee Jasper" a wonderful campground. We had travelled on dirt roads for about 3 hours after a 3 hour drive to Canberra so good to stop for the night.

We stayed at the Billy Grace Reserve. http://www.theoutdoortype.com.au/guide/index.php/activity-camping/billy-grace-reserve-wee-jasper/

Luckily the rain started only after we setup our tents and then we were in for a few days of constant rain.

I made it home

Well apologies for the delayed post. I made it home to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.

Next was a three week trip north starting with Michelle and Angus in Newcastle.
Always great to see them and Archer.

For New years eve I went to Lismore  camping and see the New year in.
Tropical Fruits is held in the show grounds and is attended by thousands.
Fireworks,  a dance party, pool party and recovery. A fun time.

This was followed by a stay at Steven and Kevins at their  heavenly property at Larnook. Here we enjoyed swims in the creek after the days hit 41 Celsius along with Moet in the spa and great food and company.
Malte, the boys visitor from Germany even convinced me to put the family pet snake around my neck to conquer my fear of snakes. Thank goodness for the bottle of chardy prior.

A stay with my brother and family on the Gold Coast followed, for a catchup together with a great Thai dinner and six hours of the Hobbit during my stay.

Next was time with Markus, then Allan and family to eat drink and be merry. A good small win at the casino. .yay.

Following was a trip for two days on the Sunshine coast with Darryl and Lynne.

I now realise I need a pool after swimming daily in Allans then Darryls pool. So noice in summer but my yards too small...

Back to the Gold Coast to see Maria, Liana and Ben who jumped out of a perfectly good aeroplane (mad), followed by a swim at Byron bay

..then Brisbane to see Dan and Mark for an introduction to Max Brenner desserts.  No wonder im getting fat.

Back to Kyogle with Aaron and family and now on the way home.

A quick stay at Coffs Harbour and Newcastle. .then tommy gets me home safely yet again..

So many true friends and family around. I never have time to get lonely which is great. ..
